Why Carry an Invisalign Case with You?
When you get your first set of Invisalign trays, your dentist will give you a case to store them in. You should keep your trays in this case whenever you aren't wearing them. Your dentist may ask if you want an extra case or two. If they don't do this, it's worth asking for spares. You wear your trays all the time so they're automatically with you wherever you go, but you may not always have a case handy when you need it.
Why is it important to store your Invisalign braces in a case when they aren't in your mouth?
Why Do You Need an Invisalign Case?
You may not think that keeping your trays in a case is that important. After all, you wear the trays most of the time and they aren't ever out of your mouth for long.
However, it's easy to lose or damage your braces. If you are having lunch at work, you might accidentally sweep your braces up with your rubbish when you finish eating and put them in the bin. If they sit in the open on your desk, you might damage them by spilling a hot cup of coffee on them.
Bear in mind that sitting in the air also isn't good for your braces. They'll pick up bacteria from the air which makes them taste and smell unpleasant. If this happens often enough, you may not be able to clean the taste and smell out of the trays.
How Many Spare Cases Do You Need?
It's a good idea to have at least one spare case for your Invisalign trays. This gives you an extra case if you lose your original one. It also allows you to leave one case at home and carry one with you during the day. If you prefer, you could keep a case at work too and then have a spare carry case to cover you when you aren't at home or at work.
If you go out a lot on short notice, then carrying a spare case with you is useful. For example, if you decide to go out for a drink and a meal after work on the spur of the moment, this case gives you somewhere safe to store your trays.
So, think about places where you might need to have an Invisalign case. You can then ask a family dentist in your area for the number of spares you need after your braces are fitted.
